Delores Burton

Delores Harris Burton Wright was born July 31, 1950.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA, and was the daughter of the late Martha Clark Harris and Joseph James Harris.

Delores was educated in Philadelphia school system and graduated from Simon Gratz High School. Delores studied and received a certificate in childcare.

Delores was employed at Spiegel Catalog Company and Sea Gull Light Company.

Delores married Sherwood Burton and from their union, three beautiful daughters were born, Tameka, Katrina, and Tennille.

Delores started her career as a daycare owner in 1973 and didn’t retire until her illness hospitalized her in June 2022. Delores was a mentor, teacher, hairstylist, and cook for the children in her care. She also taught Sunday School at Woodcrest Church when her children were young.

Delores belonged to Wadsworth Neighbors Against Drugs and taught sewing, arts and crafts, and helped with homework at the Emmanuel Recreation Center.

Delores joined Bethel Deliverance International Church.

Delores joined the Red Hat Society and loved to attend luncheons, trips, and church retreats with one of her closest friends Tonie Tarr.

Delores loved being in the company of her family and her friends and loved cooking for them at all family gatherings.

Preceded in her death were her sister Bessie Harris and brothers Michael and Craig Harris.

Delores leaves behind to cherish her memories; her three daughters, Tameka Burton, Katrina Burton and Tennille Burton Minor (Dwayne Minor). Grandchildren, Siani Anderson, Shane Carter, Sereniti Minor, Kai Carter and Skilar Minor. Brother James Harris (Tina Harris), sister Josephine Harris and Denise Harris. Nephew Eric Harris, great –niece Imani Harris, former spouse Horace Wright, Grandmother Jane E. White, God sister Wanda White Adams, God Brother, Lamont White, God Son Timothy Walton, God Daughters Anitra Wicks, and Shakyra Greene, and a host of family and friends.
