Eunice C Merritt

Merritt Eunice Coleman age 75, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2023. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Gertrude Coleman. Eunice grew up in a large family and attended Gratz High School before studying at Cheyney University.  Eunice then embarked on a long career in civil service for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She served for many years and made many long lasting friendships. In her retirement she became an author and historian focusing on family history and genealogy.  She produced titles such as: Baker’s Dozen, When Daddy was a Boy, Ella Can, and many more. Friends of Eunice Merritt will fondly remember visiting her home on Barringer Street and sharing a drink and a laugh with her.  Devoted mother of John Henry Merritt, Jr. (Tamala), loving grandmother of John Henry Merritt III, Caleb Coleman Merritt, and Ella Margaret Merritt. Also survived by her sisters Lillie Goodman and Helen Brown (Conrad).
