Gregory Harrington Obituary

Our Father, Gregory Charles Harrington, was born on July 3, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA to the late George Searles and Doris Harrington. His loved ones comforted him when he transitioned this life on July 7, 2021.

Gregory accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior in 2016. He became a member of Mt. Sinai Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ricky Rivera.

Gregory received his education in the Philadelphia Public School System.

During Gregory’s prideful journey with sobriety it led him to a promising career of counseling others for over 25 years. He retired from Gaudenzia DRC Program as a Residential Aide in 2017.

Gregory’s family and friends affectionately knew him as Rocky, Butch, and Shane. Due to the love and respect he received from his cousins, they treated him more like a brother than a cousin.

Gregory had a vibrant personality no matter the situation.  He was one of coolest and down to earth people you would probably come in contact with. He was very family oriented and had the ability of always making people laugh by cracking witty jokes. His favorite saying was “COME OVER HERE SO I CAN GO IN YOUR MOUTH.” As he felt goodbye was too permanent, he would say “HOLLA”. To top it off, if you suggested he was an old man, he would say, “I’M A YA-MEAN.”  If you were ever in need of anything and he had it, you had it with NO questions asked. To know him was to love him.

Gregory was known for being fashion savvy with his vast collection of hats and sneakers. His signature staple was his toothpick in his mouth, which accentuated his style. He had a love for all Philadelphia sports teams, however baseball was his greatest love. He also enjoyed watching mystery and old cowboy movies.

Preceding Gregory in death was his daughter, Wendy.

Gregory’s memories will be cherished by his 4 daughters and 3 sons-in-law, Wanda (Wayne), Yvette (Shannon), Tiffany, and Ebonee ‘(Jabu). 9 grandchildren, Wayne, Stefon, Shannon, Imani, Christopher, Shawn, Eliyah, Tatyana, and Eijee’. 2 great-grandchildren, Taylaa and Aasir. 2 sisters and 1 brother-in-law, Davina (Dwight) and Patricia. 2 aunts, Geraldine and Lula. Special niece Sanara (Poochie), special cousin Sheree, godsister Bernadette, and a host of family and friends.

You are truly loved, adored, and will be missed.
