Jason Orlando Gardner was born November 24th, 1965 in Philadelphia, PA to Daniel and Carol Ann Gardner. He was the youngest of four siblings. Jason was called home on Monday, January 11th, 2021. He was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system.
Jason was a multifaceted individual who was known throughout his life for his many talents. He had a passion for cars and video games. He attended school for various vocations, such as barbering, automotive technology, and his ultimate love, culinary arts.
Jason spent time working as a cook for LaSalle University and often talked about appearing in an episode of the cable network show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
Jason had a heart of gold. As an advocate for the homeless, Jason spent time working at St. Mary’s shelter, even allowing one of the residents to move in with him.
Jason was affectionately called Big Jay and Jay Dog by his family and friends. Jay had a big and boisterous personality, and to know him was truly to love him. All who encountered him would be met by a decorated story that would leave you buckled over with laughter. His storytelling was unmatched. Jason was one of the most welcoming, entertaining, and jovial people you could meet and will truly be missed.
Jason was preceded in death by his loving mother, Carol. He is survived by his father, Daniel; Brothers, Troy and Scott(Jevelyn); Sister, Denise; Children, Jason Khilil(Ashley), Cortney, Cristofer, Jason Orlando, Tyana, Justin and Jaylaha; Grandchildren, Madison, Elijah, Emani, Masyn and Evie and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
