Joan Lamar

Joan Elizabeth LaMar, the daughter of Oregon C and Anne Laws born in Philadelphia on September 1st, 1936.

She graduated from Girls High School in 1954.  At Temple University she received a Bachelor's degree in Education and Master's degree in Primary Education, specializing in Reading.  While at Temple University, Joan was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority.

Joan was an elementary school teacher in the Philadelphia School System and member of the Teacher's Union for over thirty years rising to the level of House Director at the Ada H.H. Lewis Middle School.

After retirement, Joan enjoyed traveling to exotic locals around world and to visit her grandchildren.  She was a fixture at the Center in the Park Senior Center in Germantown where she taught arts and crafts and card making.

Joan is survived by: her son Walter the 3rd, and her grandchildren, Joan, Walter IV and Mark.
