John Bowman Younger, Jr. was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 14, 1930, to the late John Bowman Sr. and the late Katherine Barksdale. John was called home on November 25, 2023. He was blessed being able to celebrate his 93rd birthday with his family and friends. John was preceded in death by his only sibling, Virgie Younger Lee.
John was a graduate of Northeast High School. In 1949, he joined the United States Airforce and honorably discharged in 1957. In 1950 he married the late Martha Jane Johnston with whom they raised four children, Bunnie, John III, Toni and Pam.
John worked in various jobs after his military career. He worked at several insurance companies, a salesman with various businesses, owned his own contracting business, and ended his work career at age 89 as an Uber driver.
John, later in life, met, fell in love and married Elvie Taylor. They enjoyed traveling, social gatherings and were the life of the party.
John was kind, caring, compassionate and full of energy and will be truly missed.
John leaves behind to celebrate his life and memory, his wife Elvie Younger, his children; Bunnie (Pete), John III (Joan), Toni (Dwayne) and Pam (Greg); Pam B. (Gene), Sheree (Steve), and James. Sixteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
