Marietta Moody Obituary

Marietta D. Moody (Davis) of Pittsburgh PA passed away Monday March 23rd, 2026, at her home peacefully. She was the wife of the late Jesse B Moody (1948 - 2001).

Born November 21st, 1949, in Pittsburgh, PA she was the daughter of the late Marshall Davis Sr. (1982) and the late Adena J. Davis (Johnson) [2023]

Marietta grew up in the Penn Hills neighborhood of Pittsburgh and graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1967. She graduated from Temple University where she met Jesse B Moody in 1969.

They were married in the summer of 1971 and had three children.

Adena, Jesse III, and Jeremy.

Marietta worked as a social worker for the State of Pennsylvania, climbing from caseworker to Asst. Executive Director for the Philadelphia County public assistance office. She managed critical city programs such as LIHEAP and Cash Assistance during her work tenure.

Later after her retirement she enjoyed dancing, quilting, studying the bible and staying in touch with her many friends over the phone. She carried a lifelong commitment to improving lives through charity and a willingness to share her testimony whenever an opportunity arose.

Marietta is survived by her three children, Adena, Jesse, and Jeremy. Five grandchildren Lord Derion Magloire, Lord Dominic Magloire, Sunni Rose Magloire, Jesse Moody I and Justice Moody. Her siblings, Michael Maceo Davis and Byron Marshall Davis, and a host of cousins, in-laws, friends, neighbors, and more who felt their lives touched by her light.
