Robert James Green Jr., affectionately known as Robby to his family and friends transitioned to be at peace with the Lord on June 12, 2023. He was born on January 23, 1960, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was the son of Katherine and Robert James Green Sr. Robby spent his formative years in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia. He was a devoted son, and together with his parents, he attended Mount Zion Baptist Church of Germantown during his childhood. Robby was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System attending John Story Jenks Elementary School. He later graduated from Martin Luther King High School in the East Germantown section of Philadelphia. After graduating, he attended Orleans Technical Institute now known as Orleans Technical College, earning a building trades certification, laying a foundation for his future endeavors.
Throughout his life, Robby pursued his passions with unwavering determination. From an early age, Robby displayed a love for music, vintage fashion, and watches. His passion for these interests was evident to all who knew him. He also possessed a natural talent for bowling, winning numerous trophies during his youth. Additionally, Robby excelled as an avid swimmer, a skill that brought immense pride to his mother.
Robby possessed a kind, and compassionate heart. His warm and infectious personality endeared him to everyone he encountered. His great sense of humor brought joy and laughter to those around him. Robby had a genuine and generous spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand. Robby had a deep love for his family, cherishing the moments spent with loved ones.
Despite the challenges he faced, Robby remained resilient. He battled with schizophrenia throughout his life, demonstrating immense strength and courage in the face of adversity. His bravery serves as an inspiration to all who knew him. During his recent illness, Robby continued to radiate that same strength and resilience that defined him. His ability to find joy in the simplest of things was remarkable. He taught us valuable lessons about perseverance, courage, and the power of the human spirit.
Robert James Green Jr. leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and kindness.
