Rodney Williams

May 23, 2022

Rodney Dewayne Williams affectionately known as 'Rod' and 'Root' was born on monday, December 12, 1966 to the late Johnnie Lee Williams and Lorraine Williams-Oliphant in Philadelphia, PA. Rodney was on loan to us for 55 years, 5 months, and 11 days until his passing on Monday, May 23, 2022.

Rodney was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System, graduating from Olney High School in 1985. Rodney had employment at various organizations. Rodney was a veteran , serving in the Navy from 1986-1989 and the Army Reserve,; 2004-2005, in which he was honorably discharged from both branches.

Rodney was baptized at an early age at St. Joseph Baptist Church in West Philadelphia, 40th & Sansom streets, under the leadership of our great grandfather the late Rev. Joseph B. Boyd.

Rodney enjoyed some favorite pastimes of reading, martial arts, fine foods, hearty wines, and robust coffee. Rodney was always the type of great guy who will always lend a helping hand. At times he may run a little late and maybe do things his own way to help, but he always did things for you with a witty smile.

Rodney was preceded in death by his Father Johnnie Lee Williams, both grandfathers James F. Boyd, and James Williams, paternal grandmother Merion Williams and bonus Father John "Jack" Oliphant.

Rodney leaves to cherish his memories; his Mother Lorraine Williams- Oliphant, maternal grandmother Anna Boyd, two aunts Patricia "Tootsie" Williams and Shirley Levin, one uncle Craig Boyd, tow bonus Sisters, Jacquin Oliphant and Monique, two bonus brothers Jaque Oliphant and xxx, one great Aunt Barbara Norton, three first cousins Cheyenne "Snoopy" harris, Dawn Williams, and Brian Williams, one best friend Alex Boyd, and a whole host of other relatives, family, and friends.

Rodney always had a smile on his face that could melt your heart. He stood tall and was as strong as an ox yet a gentle giant who walked with authority, loved life, family & friends. He was and will always be surely missed by all who crossed paths with him in this life.
