Ronald Juan Bastone, son of the late Joshua and Frances Bastone, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 30, 1945.
Ron was proud of the fact that he began his working career at the early age of nine. He went to work on the Jersey Farms picking blueberries with his brother Billy and they both helped out with the household income as much as they could. As he got older, he worked a paper route while attending Roman Catholic High School. After his graduation in 1968, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in Vietnam in the Security Forces. Back then known as an Air Police Specialist. His tour of duty also included South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Washington and Minnesota.
After finishing his enlistment, he returned to Philly to start working on his civilian career. Most of the time, he was holding down two jobs at a time and attending night school to obtain a college degree. He started taking night courses at Temple University and later transferred to Villanova University where he graduated in 1978 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration. His academic accomplishments also landed him a job at Villanova where he worked in the Computer Programming Department. During this time, he not only mastered computer programming but he also began teaching his co-workers how to successfully program the computer system. Later in his career, he went on to work at Einstein Hospital as a computer programmer and he finished out his long history of working as a Government Contractor for the Department of Defense.
Ronald was a man of many talents. Sometimes quiet, sometimes not so quiet and he always had a good sense of fashion. He was always willing to help out others regardless of the situation and he didn’t expect anything in return. A rare quality these days.
On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, it was God’s will that he would depart us and be at peace with his Parents and his sisters, Shirley and Carmen. Left to cherish his unforgettable memories are his Brothers Billy and Tony, Sister Francine, Sons Anthony and Christopher, Daughter Sarita, Grandchildren Demetrius, Joshua Tyler and Joshua and a host of nieces, nephews and good friends. Also, our extended family, Susan Blackburn and Brett and Pamela Davis who looked after Ron up to his final days.
