Timothy Edmonds Obituary

Timothy Manuel Edmonds was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 6, 1955 to the late Algy Melvin Edmonds and Sarah Evelyn (Rushing) Edmonds, the third of seven children.  Two sisters (Loralie, and Baby Girl) preceded him in death.  His early education took place at Levering Elementary and Stokley Schools. He graduated from Strawberry Mansion Junior High School in 1970, and from Germantown High School in 1973.  He married Renee Gantt in July of that same year.  From this union came three children but only one survived childbirth, a daughter, Taryn Nicole Edmonds.  Timothy completed several computer courses at technical schools, and worked for several companies including Teamsters and then at General Accident Insurance in Philadelphia where he later met his second wife, Deborah Rowlands.  He pursued college education at Community College of Philadelphia, Pierce Junior College, and University of Delaware, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems at Widener University. He worked for many companies as a computer programmer, systems analyst, and consultant for over 20 years, specializing in mainframe programming.

In 2004, he decided to change his career and obtained a Master of Science in Elementary Education at St. Joseph's University, where he met his third wife, Dinean Duckett. From this union, daughter Lauren Marie Edmonds was born.  Timothy spent the remaining years of his life working as a Teacher, certified in Pennsylvania and later in Delaware and New Jersey in Elementary Education (K-6) and Business Education (9-12). After retirement, he enjoyed working as a Substitute Teacher until he was physically unable to work.  Though his earlier beliefs steered him away from his dream of serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, he later decided to volunteer as a Member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.  Throughout his adult life, he lived in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Kentucky, but often gravitated back to New Jersey where he resided until he could no longer live independently.

As a young adult, Timothy played the trumpet in a local band, and years later returned to playing in bands for many years, often playing his two saxophones at paid gigs as a hobby.  He loved all kinds of music and was known to be intelligent, methodical, and self-motivated, often reading books to learn new computer languages or to maintain and repair his sports cars which he loved so much.  Timothy loved history, football, driving and auto racing.  He could be social but preferred a quiet, simple life where he was not surrounded by people all the time.  This did not serve him well as he was alone when he succumbed to illness but was rescued by a good neighbor who called for medical attention that granted him a little more life on this earth.  During those months, he worked very hard to regain physical and mental strength.  Timothy passed away while in hospice care on the evening of March 19, 2026 in Ambler, PA. He is survived by his two daughters, Taryn (Edmonds) Kennedy, and Lauren Edmonds; three grandchildren, Gabriela Paige Aragon, Robert Samuel Morgan, and Laurel Joyce Kennedy; and his siblings, Algy, Pamela (Samuel Rivera), and Bruce Edmonds.  His brother, Steven, predeceased him in December 2014; his father and mother both passed away in March 1996 and July 2012, respectively.  He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
